the two-ball drill
A face contact drill that looks like a trap, because technically, it is
The Two-Ball Drill uses one ball as the target and the other as a trap. Your setup stays honest—your club starts between two balls, not secretly behind the one you plan to hit. From there, the task is simple, slightly rude, and very useful for controlling face strike. Hit the intended ball without disturbing the other.
Do this for wedges and irons.
Instructions—
Set up with two balls—one toe side, the other heel side. You club should sit in the middle of the two.
Swing to strike the inner ball without touching the outer ball.
Return to the same middle setup. Do not move the club behind the toe-side ball.
Swing to strike the outer ball.
Return to your normal setup with a third ball. The club sits behind the ball.
Swing to strike this third ball.
Start with your wedges. If you can successfully strike the intended ball without disturbing the other while keeping the honest middle setup, move on to the next club.
