guide to better golf

10 Very Simple Guides
For Playing a Very Tricky Game

And added bonuses
To start your adventure.

00 IT’S ABOUT TRUST, ISN’T IT?

Let’s be honest.
We want a swing we can trust.

A swing that stays when golf feels easy.
And sticks around when it does not.

How to build trust in a swing?
By keeping it simpler.

How simpler?
Just three things—

Good swings start from a good setup.
Big muscles—not little ones—drive the swing.
And yes, grace in the swing is repeatable (with lots of effortless zip!)

And that’s that.

01 SET IT UP FOR SUCCESS.

A good swing starts from a good setup.
And it doesn’t make you say “Ouch.”

It’s all about hinging from the hips.
(No slouching, please!)

Knees soft. Feet hips apart.
Push your hips back—
like closing a door with your butt.
Back feels straight.
Arms hanging down like spaghetti.
(Cooked spaghetti, not raw!)

Grip? Not too tight, not too light.
Just right.

Everything balanced, everything ready to say,
”We are ready. Let’s begin.”

02 THE SOUPY WEDGE DRILL

This one’s slow.
Soupy slow.

It’s a No Thinking way
To get the right muscle groups going.

Setup with a wedge.
Turn the club up—
Soupy slow (no tension, please!).
Then let the club fall down.
Your body goes with it.

Repeat. Again. And again.
Until everything feels soupy—
From start to finish.

Alternative? Rock-On-A-String Drill

04 THE SWEET SPOT DRILL.

Now it’s driver time—but easy does it.
Not here to smash, just find the center.

  1. Spay the face with foot powder.

  2. Hit drives with the same rhythm and grace of the backswing and downswing. The sprayed face will tell you exactly where you hit.

  3. Heel strike? Trying hitting the toe. Toe strike? Hit the heel. Low on the face? Hit high. High on the face? Hit low. Center strike? Smile and do it again until you strike the center with grace and rhythm two in a row.

The best strikes feel like nothing.
That how you know they were something.
And yes—wipe the face clean. The rules are rather particular about such things.

Why center strike is important
