driver face contact drill
A face contact drill that uses tiny misses on purpose so center stops feeling like a rumor
The Driver Face Contact Drill is built on a strange little truth. Sometimes you find center faster by exploring what lives nearby. Instead of hoping the sweet spot magically appears, you explore the toe-side, the heel-side, and the middle of the useful center zone. Tiny misses. On purpose. Not the far edges of the clubface, where Gear Effect starts writing its one dramatic screenplay.
Do this with driver—or any big-headed clubs like your 3-wood.
Instructions—
Spray clubface with foot powder.
Set up normally with driver.
Swing to strike the toe-side of the clubface.
Swing to strike the heel-side of the clubface.
Swing to strike the center of the clubface.
Complete the sequence successfully two times in a row. Then challenge yourself by narrowing the gap between toe-side and heel-side strikes.
Note—
Avoid sightseeing adventure on the far toe or far heel. That’s shank territory. The sweet spot is only about a size of a quarter, so keep the variation small, useful, and close to home.
